Sorry if it has been discussed. This has been discussed a fair bit here on the forum, especially on the Health Anxiety board. It's quite common for anxiety sufferers to fear these things due to the media hype, but the reality is that it's not nearly as bad as we're made to believe. These things get so much attention because the extreme cases are just that - extreme. With 28,000+ cases and 500+ deaths, that's only about 2% of cases resulting in fatality. If that's helpful.
Sorry, I was not trying to come off rude if you took it that way.Okay then
You also have to consider China has an authoritarian government so if they perceive any loss of control, they will do whatever it takes to regain that power and save face to the nation. China is most likely under reporting but not for sinister reasons, they can only test so many at a time. We would be seeing many deaths in the international cases if this virus was the "killer pandemic virus" the media is cruelly trying to play up for clicks and views. When the Swine flu pandemic began in 2009, they believed it had a fatality rate of 10%, but they deduced that number from a small amount of cases and it was realized after they received more information that the number fell in line with normal influenza. This is what's going to occur with this virus. Swine flu had the same hysteria and fear around it that this virus has.Sorry if it has been discussed.
I do fear the flu yearly and actually any kind of sickness, but this is a whole new thing "Novel Coronavirus" meaning new, I can't believe
the china government would shut down over something that was simply a cough and cold, its bigger then you can imagine.
Also you can't take the case amount + death amount to find out the fatality rate when the case amount has not been
recovered.
I agree with this, its just hard because I want to know what is going on and want to find out any break through's like treatment/vaccinesIf you're still worried, I would strongly recommend "disconnecting" from reading about this virus because it's only going to feed your fears even more.
