Christmas celebrations over, hope next year is better for all of us

Christmas was a nice time with family, but as it dies down the old feelings of uncertainty creep back in. Doesn't help that my Mother is in hospital, though that for me is a different kind of worry. I don't now why but it doesn't give me anxiety type worries, for which I am grateful. I started counselling just before Christmas and will resume in the new year so i am hoping that will help and next year will turn out better. Best wishes to everyone on here.

Myown mother had an operation on Christmas Eve. Spent Christmas in hospital too. Was just me here at home for the Christmas. Spoke on the phone a lot to the mother. Quiet Christmas is how I saw it. Nobody came near the house. Which is what I like. Who knows what next year will hold. Probably much the same as this year. Covid wise. Think that is boring us all by now.

Thank you for the kind wishes. I had a great Christmas myself and I was able to take some time off work and just relax. It was a much needed time of rest and celebration with my family.

This final week of December after Christmas is a tough time for me. I always feel a bit down because of how quickly Christmas is over. The upcoming New Year makes me feel sentimental about this past year and anxious about the unknowns in the year to come. It’s a little bit of a rough time for me, but I’m doing my best to practice mindfulness and focus on my tasks at hand rather than trouble myself about the past and future.

I hope your mother is doing ok. Sometimes I think we are less anxious in those situations, because it's not solely our own worry.. a worry shared, etc. Maybe?
I always get such a slump after christmas. I think I let it distract and consume me, so once it's over that distraction is lifted and my usual life returns with a vengeance!

I was glad to see 2021 go.. my mom passed away, and then the year ended with a batch of costly home & vehicle repairs. I'm optimistic for 2022 tho.. and hope everyone else in here has a good year & game plan ahead of them.
Honestly, I don't see how '22 could be worse than 2021..

Thanks.. it's been hitting me weird too. I feel ok with it on a conscious level. But it's been about a month now, and I'm starting to have some wicked insomnia & other anxious symptoms. I'm trying to exorcise some of my thoughts on paper, because I have a stoic wife & family that I can't really talk with.. and maybe I'll find a thread in here to also commiserate, and get some advice.

I find getting out really helps. I often don’t want to go but I know I’ll be glad I did.
