Trying to focus on even aTV program is not happening. Mostly going from here to there in the house randomly and not doing a thing. At night is the most of the intense anxiety. Just looking for others to relate, feeling very alone.

This sounds so familiar. Having something to occupy your thoughts and time helps anxiety. It does me . I got involved in DNA and finding who I was and so on. It sure did help. You will come up with something that will help you. And others on here will help you too. Hang in there and give it time. Keep us informed.

Waiting, (hi) you're not alone.. this is relatable.. When I experience unfocused, nervous energy, I find exercise helps. Maybe a weight set, exercise bike, or evening walk or jog would/could help u release some of that nervous energy. It also helps stimulate needed endorphins. Just my 2 cents.. keep us updated.

Gosh, you're no where near alone in this. I think I drive my dog nuts when I have those "no focus" times as I go upstairs, downstairs, into the basement or outside and she is always at my side. At those times I can't watch sports as it makes me more nervous if I have an interest in the outcome. I also have real difficulty watching shows that display mental illness or drug problems like "The Good Doctor" or movies that have a storyline based on mental or drug addiction situations. I wish I could give advice on what gets me out of those "no focus" times but they just eventually ease up. Then my dog can relax again.

When my anxiety is high I can't focus on TV or movies at all. It's actually really bad for me even to try. Even sporting events that I would usually love to watch i will have to just put on and check the score from time to time or play a phone game while it plays in the background.

It's just a symptom of anxiety being high. If it is really bothering you try this. Put on a show that you love (for me it is the office), something you already know the story too. And find something else to focus on while it plays in the background, I usually play with cards or a simple word phone game. You will look up at good parts you already know about and it will give your brain something else to think about. Your brain will start focusing on the dialog in the background and eventually you will get calmer and can switch to something new and put away the other distraction.

Thank you all so much for your replys. It helps to connect and not feel so isolated. It is really hard for people who don’t have anxiety to understand. I’m really glad to be on this forum and in touch with supportive people.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will try it. I like the idea of the familiar TV show with the game.
Thank you

Hey Wanting!! As everyone else has said in one way or another, you are definitely not alone in this. I have anxiety and insomnia, and I'm so restless at night. I'll find myself cleaning at 3 am, or doing some craft, or just something to occupy my mind.

I started anxiety journaling recently after reading a book, and I found that it really helped. I would write about what I was feeling or just about the day, so that I could go back and reflect on this and try to figure out how to process everything. I would also do a 1 - 10 scale at the end of the entry, logging both my rates of depression and anxiety. I found that the journaling part and the documenting of my depression/anxiety rates, actually helped me learn more about my anxiety and how to work through things. Writing it all down and getting it all out definitely helped too. Even when I would struggle to focus, writing it down seemed to draw me back in.

Good luck with everything!

Having the same problem , antsy, can’t focus. Trying to relax, and can’t settle my mind or body. I just feel the need to always focus and be in tune with my body. And it’s distracting me from my everyday routine. I think something is wrong every minute of the day, feeling I may have the worst case of GAD.

I too have days were I feel like everything is the worst. I don't know if it helps but I try and tell myself that most of my panic thoughts are not true it's just my illness messing with me.
