i have worried my entire life about one disease or another. My worries are focused on cancer primarily. Anyway I had a normal mammogram in august but last week I started to notice some pain in one breast. a few days later I felt an area that feels like a "Thickening" right around the Aereola. It feels like it's right under the skin and the area is kind of movable. I went to the dr last week who referred me for an ultrasound. That freaks me out because she must have felt something! My ultrasound isn't until dec so I made an appt with my regular gp so she can take a feel. I am just so so afraid of what she will say. I have googled like a crazy person the past week!
Any advice on how to stay off the stupid internet!!??

If your mammogram was normal just a little while ago, I wouldnt worry too much. It's not like your mammogram was 2 or 3 years ago, it was fairly recent. The only way a doctor can check your concerns is to send you for testing. I read online that your breast can become lumpy when you're going through any hormonal changes, like being on your period. I don't know what age you are, but Google is never any help. I really should take my own advice because I'm a major hypochondriac, and I too have a severe fear of cancer, all types! There are plenty of things that could be wrong with your breast before you jump all the way to cancer. I remember my mom had dried breast milk that was causing her aome issues. The milk had calcified. Also, I believe you can get cysts in your breast as well.

How to stay off the internet? I wish I knew the answer to that question as I have the same problems looking on pages that I don't really need to. You just have to be strong willed and not look up pages. Tell yourself that your test is in December and to wait until then. The net won't give you the answers you need.

I saw another Np yesterday. She quickly felt the area of concern and said "yep we need an u/s...". I was in tears. She offered me a Valium or xanax!!! No I don't want drugs, I just want a 5 minute ultrasound!!!! It's next tues which seems light years away.

Don not freak out. This is a precaution. This common condition is probably what it is because of the location you found it.Screenshot_2017-11-16-20-23-49-1.png

Hey I hope everything goes well tomorrow.
I know it’s stupid to say this at the moment, but try to keep calm.
Stressing yourself will make it much worse.
As @Concernedgal supposed, the bump might be something benign such as a cyst.
I had to have an ultrasound as well, because of lumps in my breast. It turned out that my breast tissue is very lumpy, and that I have cyst that start swelling when I ovulate and before my period.

Can you talk more about the cyst in your breast?
