Blood in Phlegm....kind of worried

I have recently been slightly concerned about the possibility of COVID but not a ton until tonight. I've been visiting my family in Ohio the past few days and noticed a tickle in my throat for the past 3 days, I honestly thought it was just allergies. Well tonight I was laying down in bed and TMI.....I coughed and phlegm shot out onto the bed. I know, gross. It was super sticky and noticeably had some blood in it and I didn't even eat or drink anything red today. I obviously freaked it.....but everyone else is asleep so I have no one to talk me down and I'm too afraid to look anything up online. Freaking out about COVID, freaking out about Tuberculosis, freaking out about cancer....UGH! I hate this! Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Yes, many times with allergies and common colds. Both of those things irritate the nose and/or throat, which can lead to ruptured blood vessels and thus the blood present in phlegm/mucus. There are tons of perfectly harmless reasons for this, fat more likely than the cancer or COVID-19.

Had it once as well. Did go to A&E. They could find nothing wrong at all. Said I might have torn the lining somewhere along the way down inside me. Said it could be easily done by coughing too hard or even eating food with a sharp edge to it. They gave me something to take for a few days, But within one day it had stopped. Nobody ever really knew the reason why it happened. Even the experts.

Were you coughing a lot? My granny had laryngitis and she was coughing up phlegm with blood in it from a small tear in her throat I think. I doubt its anything serious, don't worry
