Does anyone get Dysesthesia with anxiety? (Neurological sensations of burning/ wet/cold/ pins and needles, crawling sensation, aches and pains that aren't really there). Do you have triggers? Or does it just happen for no apparent reason and stay?

Nothing bad happened to cause heightened anxiety, all is good but I'm entering another period of symptoms. I have had this before but my back feels wet, swollen, inflamed. It's none of these I am fine. I have zero pain. I've not pulled anything. It's definitely dysesthesia. I just don't no why.

Have you had it last for weeks?
Hi Seryn....I have had this for years!!! It comes on for no reason and can last for months. I can feel the burning sensations and also crawling especially. Of course I googled and it scared me what it could mean. Doctors can not find a reason why. Hang in there I understand how u feel.

Doctors don't know why because so few have had any training in anxiety disorders. Reach for the prescription pad! That gets you out of the surgery when what you really need is someone to talk to who understands, otherwise it's all just theory. All the symptoms you descrbe are typical of anxiety, especiall HA. So you have realised that to Google is not only dangerous but downright misleading. Dr. Google does not know you like your own doctor, so that they can only generalise. Have you looked up 'The 100 symptoms of anxiety on that Canadian website, 'anxietycentre. com'?' That list is by no means exhaustive, I could add loads more. I ceased be surprised years ago about any new symptoms.

It's just disappeared now. I'm not sure if it's coincidence but it's always the week after my period I have a feeling my hormones are really struggling right now. Week before during and after my cycle I'm forever getting symptoms. I swear I get one week a month where I feel great. Always the same time in my cycle, even when it's not regular.

Also I've been sat working at my desk for 9hours today, barely any break. Absolutely no pitting in my legs. No swelling. No wet back. Dr says sedantary but it can't be. I've been symptom free and worked loads barely done 2 thousand steps a day yesterday and today. Next week it will be back for 3 weeks. Starting to connect the dots...

I’ve had this for as long as I can remember. Feeling hot and cold and wet spots that weren’t real. Got quite constant and sent me down a big rabbit hole about 13 years ago, but all tests were clear, so chalked it up to being anxiety. I have also had a couple of pinched nerves in the past that have caused pins and needles.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this. Dysesthesia can indeed be a challenging and unsettling symptom, especially when it seems to come out of nowhere. Many people with anxiety report experiencing similar sensations, such as burning, wetness, cold, pins and needles, or crawling sensations. These symptoms can be triggered by heightened anxiety, but they can also appear without any apparent cause.

It's important to remember that while these sensations are uncomfortable, they are not harmful. They are a result of the mind-body connection and how anxiety can manifest physically. Here are a few things that might help:

1. **Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques**: Practices like deep breathing, meditation, and progressive muscle relaxation can help calm your nervous system and reduce the intensity of these sensations.
2. **Physical Activity**: Gentle exercise, such as walking or yoga, can help release tension and improve your overall well-being.
3. **Distraction**: Engaging in activities that you enjoy or that keep your mind occupied can help divert your focus away from the sensations.
4. **Talk to a Professional**: If these symptoms persist or become too overwhelming, consider speaking with a mental health professional who can provide support and guidance.

You're not alone in this, and many people have found ways to manage these symptoms. Hang in there, and take care of yourself.

The condition occurs suddenly without any determining factor even if no clear trigger exists. Stress together with heightened emotional states trigger my migraine attacks. The neurological condition creates life-like sensations which are merely biological irregularities. You should attempt stress management along with having some rest periods as this might decrease the neurological symptoms you experience.

I think that's what worries me. For a year I'd say my life has been quite stressful free. But stress to me is big things. A divorce, crazy ex involving police, numerous courts to get restraining orders, broken retraining orders, harming kids, their mental health, all doing it alone. Now my stress is just daily life stuff, surely that doesn't count as stress compared to what I was going through daily for 5+ years? Like I'm not under stress but symptoms come all the time?

Is it just a fleeting feeling or does it last all day? Mine doesn't happen when I feel any intense emotions it's just there and for a long time which is why I wasn't sure if it's anxiety related. Struggling with it today. Woke up like it and the sensation is there all the time

It's hard to believe it's not something else isn't it? My legs were aching and felt heavy all day yesterday. Like they were solid and stiff. When I took my sock off though the indent was crazy and the pitting in my ankle was awful. I never no nowadays if what I'm feeling is real or not but I refuse to believe this is normal and just anxiety. Luckily my bloods were fine end of last year. Great. But why am I like this then. I'm hoping bringing my BMI down will help. Let's just hope it's because I'm a bit on the chonky side! Only good thing to come out of this is I've not gained more in a year. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that..I'm struggling with getting the weight down though. Sugar is my nemesis.

Many years ago I suddenly felt like someone was pouring cold water on part of my left thigh. The feeling came and went. Then that part of the thigh started feeling numb. I got nervous and was referred to an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon determined after examining me that I had a nerve trapped in my hip. He told me I had 2 options. The first was surgery and the other option was to live with it. He then said if I were you, I would live with it and I have for many years.

I have always wondered if I have trapped nerves due to sitting so long at a desk. I average 2k steps a day which is awful. For two months I got my steps between 8k - 10 and it made absolutely no difference what so ever. But the people I no who have been diagnosed with trap nerves have been in a lot of pain. I can feel extremely stiff or my muscles feels full to bursting with water or my who back can feel soaking but it never hurts so I didn't think it could be a nerve? Has yours ever gone or do you just live with the constant sensation?

I've just finished work a bit early to lie down for a bit because the sensation it all up my back today and it's just feels really horrible. It's not anxiety I've done something but no idea what. I do need to remember is it's nothing life threatening as my bloods were fine.

My thigh never really had any pain. At its worst, I felt like cold water was being poured on it and part of my thigh was numb. To this day over 25 years later, my thigh never regained full feeling and is still partially numb. I listened to the surgeon and learned to live with it.
