Hello everyone! :)

Some me people use aromatherapy to help them relax or go to sleep. Some use it for the relief of other symptoms they are feeling. I on the other hand use the oil of Lavender to help me feel calm. I let the aroma flow by using a burner and somehow the smell helps me feel more relaxed.

Have you ever tried using aromatherapy before?

I get massage therapy regularly because there is a massage parlor 2 blocks away and they do home service for just $5 so I can afford to have a massage service even twice a week. But it's always home service for me. They also have aromatherapy which I have seen when I visited their parlor. However, that massage is expensive at $10 but it looks good. I just don't like it because I prefer the home service so I go straight to bed after a massage session of 1 hour. Their aromatherapy uses natural aromatic oils and their massage rooms are dimly lit with a pipe in music that would soothe you while getting the massage. The scent that pervades the atmosphere could make you more relaxed according to the massage therapist that's why she is recommending it to me.

Corzhens I too prefer home massage service because I feel more comfortable at home and I usually have my massage done in the evening, after dinner so I could just go straight to bed feeling relaxed and well rested in the morning. I really prefer aromatherapy oils for my massage but regular oil is also okay for me since the massage is already enough to make me feel relaxed.

I have been reading up on aromatherapy and I purchased one of those lights that melt wax cubes. I have noticed that I am a little more relaxed at night when I have it turned on. The Lavender wax melts really do seem to provide a relief from all of the tension and anxiousness. I would definitely recommend others to try this type of relaxation technique.

Are there any other Wax Melt scents that anyone would suggest? I will research some more and let you all know what I find.

Yes, Lavender is supposed to be especially good as a stress reducer and it has a lovely floral scent as well. At times, I have had difficulty sleeping, and I read somewhere that lavender was supposed to help with this. I sprayed some lavender on my pillowcases, and found that I was able to sleep well that night, so I think that is an especially good scent to use if you are anxious, and having problems with nervious tension or can not sleep.

I love lavender oil in a bath. Chamomile and peppermint oils also have soothing qualities to them. Lavender oil bath and a cup of chamomile tea? Heaven.

I think aroma therapy is becoming more and more popular because people are fed up with the bad side effects of modern medicines.  Something like aroma therapy can play a vital role in this. It is widely used to treat depression, anxiety and even physical issues like indigestion, headache etc. The best part is that we can use it with other types of medicines too which makes it even more popular.

I heard that aroma therapy is more effective when we use a blend of various essential oils. Still a lot of research is going on in this area to find out the most effective mix of oils. It is important  to see a aromatherapist before doing anything like that  as some oils can cause allergies to some people.

Yes, I very frequently use lavender oil as a relaxant. Sometimes I have the actual true essence I can use and just sprinkle a bit on my pillow. I also have Johnson's baby oil with lavender too. I squirt that in my bath and it is so relaxing. It is also good to squirt on the dogs' beds too as it repels fleas. So at night time I am happy knowing that I can relieve my anxiety while protecting my dogs too!

Yes I have used the Lavender Oil before @gracer, I loved it and it made me relax like it states. Now I'm trying Chamomile Oil, usually I drink chamomile tea but since I have the aromatherapy oil diffuser I'm experimenting with different oils, it's very soothing, you will have to try it.:)

I love Jasmine oil, the smell is so nice and calm. It reminds me when I was a kid because my grandma had lots of these flowers in her garden.

Besides common oils (Lavender, Chamomile, etc.) one thing I find useful is use Air Fresheners labeled as Ocean or Forest breeze or something similar. Those types of scents help me to relax because I feel like walking outside or it reminds me of nature.

I'm big into scented candles. I purposely find candles that instantly remind me of a safe, happier time.

I like coconut candles, they always remind me of being on vacation when I was little, without a care in the world (the post-panic attack days). The more they smell like coconut suntan oil, the better. I also really seem to like the smell of lilac candles. There's this lilac tree I always stop at when I take my walks (in the Spring) - that's my turnaround spot. Once I get to that particular lilac tree, I stop to smell it, and then turn around and walk home.

Cherry candles are relaxing, but I can't figure out why. I don't like cherries, the way they taste, I don't like chocolate-covered cherries either. Maybe it sparks some memory of wearing cherry lip gloss when I was a little girl (?) It all has to do with safe memories, even if your conscious mind isn't quite aware of them.

I'm a big fan of aromatherapy, I used bergamot and neroli essential oils from Simply Earth every night before going to sleep. It helps me to relax and calm especially when I feel stress at work.
