Anyone here ever experience frequent urination/slight difficulty to actually start? Horrified of prostate cancer at age 22!

Title sums it up! About a week ago I noticed I started having to pee way more frequently than I normally do and it takes longer to actually start when I go. Went to the doctor a few days back and they said it could be prostatitis, and after a urine test (which was apparently fine?) got some anti biotics "just in case".

I've ended up indulging in Dr. Google and I can't stop thinking that it's 100% prostate cancer and by the time the doctors figure it out it's going to be spread everywhere! It doesn't help that for every post I see about "Prostate cancer is easily curable/is incredibly rare in young people", I see another saying prostate cancer can be super aggressive and deadly! Any advice? I could use some right now...

I have hypochondria ever since losing my dad to brain cancer. I see shadows of cancer everywhere and it can be hard to fight. Heck right now I've noticed the last few months Ive been bloated often, even after eating fiber and that freaks me out! Simple bloating! This is a good place to talk and vent, so please trust me when I say the WORST thing you can do is indulge Dr Google. You can put in a stub toe and 5 minuets later you'll be down a rabbit hole of ALS and bone cancer.

Keep an eye on your urination, even I do as well, I drink a ton of water so go often so my annoying hyperchondria mind can wonder. Talk to your doctor if you need to, but do NOT rely on Dr Google

Hello

Prostate cancer does not present that way. Did the antibiotics help? If not this could be cystitis which is bladder inflammation was your urine result normal?

On day 3 of the antibiotics right now and I'm not really sure if they're helping honestly. It's not getting worse which is somewhat relieving though. Also I was told I'd get a call if anything was abnormal with the urine test and I haven't got one yet so I think it must've been clear?

If only my anxious mind would believe that life would be so much nicer
I hear you! You are your mind though. There are ways to overcome hypochondria, but they take time and effort. You have to be willing to put in the work. if you don't, you will likely go through cycles of thinking you have a deadly illness, then realizing you don't, then thinking you do, etc etc. I started getting hypochondria when I was about your age and have only recently "beat it" (in scare quotes because you don't really beat it, you just learn how to effectively handle it better).

Do yourself a huge favour and start dealing with it now. If you're interested, I will share some free resources to get you started.

Do you take any nasal decongestants like Flonase for seasonal allergies? I was having trouble with the first urination of the day. Couldn’t get started, weak flow, even having to push and strain to go. After some research I figured out nasal decongestants can affect your bladder. I cut back on it and now every thing is back to normal.

Sometimes, if I sleep curled up, I can compress the urethrae inside my body and the first piss of the day is like that. That can also happen if I have been sitting and slouching badly for a long time.

No decongestants, but I do sometimes sleep funny and my daytime posture consists solely of slouching (programmer + covid life!). Might have something to do with it lol. Doctor told me that they'll see if they can book me with a urologist to get an ultrasound and hopefully that'll "cure" my anxiety, at least for a little bit until my brain finds something else to latch on to.

Just thought I'd update this one last time in case anyone was curious. Got the ultrasound results a few days ago and they found...

absolutely nothing!

No tumors, no enlarged prostate, no obvious bladder problems. Just a slight (15% according to them) urinary retention. I guess I'm just going insane lol. Thank you anxiety for convincing me I was dying. They told me they'd recommend me to a urologist to see if they can deal with the retention but otherwise there's not a single thing they saw worth worrying about.

Thanks to everyone who posted here for the reassurance.
