I think thats what they are anyway. I ofcourse consulted dr google and it seems like what it most likely is. It only happenes in my left eye. But when I am very stressed I get theses blurry shimmering lines in my left eye. It normally starts on the bottom and I hardly even notice it but then it works its way up right into my line of site. It doesn't happen super often, maybe once a month give or take. But when it does it scares the crap out of me. It usually goes away within 10-20 mins. But those 10-20 mins are pure hell of being convinced that I am going blind or having a stroke. I just had it happen today and now I am obsessing about it. I read that the best way to prevent them is to manage stress and blah blah blah. Which is easier said then done when youre a health anxiety sufferer ontop of every day life worries. Anyone else deal with this or have any advice?

Well just a week ago got prescribed my first migraine medication. I have this left sided headache around eye, temple, forehead and cheekbones. Basically whole left side.it starts a day before with tender inner corner of eye and strangest thing is it happens every year since 2017 , same month, for 5-6 days. Thats all. Once a year.

Yes, same month once a year, for a week.
But mine doesn't stop, just weakens and gets intense non stop for a week. Then disappears like it never happened. I guessed it might be migraine and when I told it to some family members guess what they said? No, its your HA...

Go ask a dr opinion. Normal painkillers have no effects on migraine pain.

Its called migraine with aura. Occasionally all you get is the aura with minimal or no pain. That’s what I get. Been getting them for 25 years. Frequency varies and is related to stress, but typically days or weeks after the stress passes.

I get them a lot. I don't get the pain, but that doesn't mean it won't come one of these days. Mine usually start in my right eye and work it's way out of my vision in about 20 min to 1/2 hr. But if I close my L eye it is in a different place but still there. so it must come in both. Don't know much about it but I see silver streaks when I close my eye. And I have a blind spot at what I am looking at where the silver streaks are. It gets bigger and slower floats out of my vision. Don't know if I explained it well but it usually happens when I overuse my eyes or I am stressed or very tired. I have friends who get them too.

You nailed it on the explanation.

It makes me feel alot better to know other people get them too. Its just a scary thing when it happens. I keep trying to blink it away and then I have an absolute melt down that I'm going blind or have something major wrong with me. Ofcourse good old google says get the hospital right away and its signs of a stroke and blah blah. Which ofcourse has me even more freaked out. I get them occasionally. Usually very little or no pain associated with them. Most of the time I get them if I have been out in the sun too long or get a really sharp glare in my eye. They happen roughly once a month, maybe a tad more. I got one yesterday and now I am obsessing about it. I keep blinking and thinking about it and waiting for it to come. Ugh.

Thank you Bobnnat. And Broken Arrow, I think everyone panics when they first get them but when you know they won't hurt you and other people get them too you start to relax a little and when they do come you just go one with what you are doing and wait them out which isn't long.

Guess what I have right now Broken Arrow. Migraine of the eye. Having a little trouble seeing where I'm typing there is a tiny blind spot where those silver lines are. lol Waiting for them to get wider and float out of my vision. It is in both eyes but the other eye is not so bad. Just wanted you to know you are not alone. Have a good day.

Well, I dont wish them on you but it is nice to know that you get them and you are alright. Seems like they don't even really both you anymore which makes me feel pretty good about it. Thank you for sharing with me.

Im sorry you all get these but I feel so much better! I had my 1st one 30 years ago and was diagnosed with an ocular migraine (headache without the pain) told to take an aspirin a day to ward them off. Never had another one until about 8 years ago, which lasted only a short while, and now have had 3 in the past 3 weeks. Of course my Dr (who is a new Dr for me) has decided I should have all kinds of tests "just to make sure" so all I'm doing is stressing about it. Thankfully I can re-read all of your posts and know its not just me. Thanks everyone!!

I've had them last year I was getting them often it started with the blurred vision then the headache starts. It was scary the first couple of times it happen I thought I was having a stroke or something. What I do is close my eyes or lay in the dark until it ends.

I started getting those maybe a decade ago. Better than the headaches but incredibly annoying and inconvenient! If you can figure out what causes them, you might be able to have fewer, though. Stress is one possible cause but not the only one. Mine are usually hormonal or caused by light.

See the optician about it. Or perhaps the doctor, depending on the severity of the condition and where the underlying problems lie. Its not very common to go blind over time, partial blindness is more common, but even then i havent heard many stories on partial blindness, well usually when you are really old like 80s beyond it happens. I doubt it will effect you.

Just had another one today. Roughly 2 months since the last one. I have been under a ton of stress lately. I am working full time, in school full time, and also trying to catch up and feeling the effects of being out of work for a while. It happened at work. I left work early and by the time I drove the 1/2 mile to my house, it was in full effect. It only lasted about 20 mins total, but ugh. I'm kinda worried that because my stress is so high they are going to keep coming until I get my stress down, which isn't going to really be any time soon. My schedule is so crammed its not even funny. I work 50+ hours a week now and do 25+ in remote schooling, I'm in two bowling leagues, and I have 3 kids and a wife that I try to do the best I can to spend time with. I know some people would say drop the bowling league, but I feel like that's the only time I really get to relax and enjoy myself.

I get the exact thing. Just had one yesterday from anxiety. It takes about 1/2 hour for it to go out of my vision. I am 82 and have had this for years. I thought it only affected one eye too but a friend of mine says it is in both eyes only one is more dominent so I am not sure about that. I don't get any pain.

I went through a period a few months ago where I literally was getting these silent migraines twice a week. They finally subsided but I know they’ll return, maybe with that frequency at some point. But I know stress triggers mine and they are annoying but harmless, so I just let them pass. Like Rosy says, 20=30 minutes start to finish.

I used to get these for a year. Once I started using computer gamer glasses for work and play... they stopped. The first few scared me to death though.
