there’s a lot of trials with medication going on. The hydrochloriquine with the Z pack is helping recovery in many, as well as using antibodies for those who are more in need.

They are also testing the TB vaccine in all countries as TB effects the lungs too. They are hoping it might help.

My wife is a nurse and a lot of her patients are recovering and a lot of them are older with conditions. You don’t hear that in the media . A lot of people are dying but a lot more are recovering .

There are protocols developing that the hospitals in New York have been using with increasing success. Keeping people off ventilators as long as possible, even tolerating oxygen saturation levels in mid 80s. Keeping them off steroid anti-inflammatories until the second week of illness, and then using anti-IL6 drugs keeps inflammation from spiralling out of control. Enough seriously ill people are surviving that the drs are noting a problem with excessive clotting in late stages of the disease which is a current topic of research and trials. They've also been altering how the various pressures are used in the ventilators as they've come to realize that the model of pulmonary disease they were using "ARDS", may not be as effective as treatments that are normally used in edema from lung injuries seen in high altitude exposure.

That all sounds quite interesting. I talked to a nurse that’s here in Maryland. She had told me that it’s very different from one patient to the next. Always a lot of variables to it.

I read about a simple technique being used to flip patients onto their stomach. This apparently allows their lungs to open up better than if they are on their back. The clinicians appear to be learning a lot on the fly about how to treat patients more effectively.

In my hospital the doctors do not use yet hydroxychloroquine because there was two research from China. One research was good, another research not good.

For people at home with fever you should take paracetamol but not ibuprofen. I don't know why

The fever reducer is still being debated. The idea is that the immune system cannot fight at its optimum when there isn’t a fever (which means the body is fighting).

In Asia patient are taking a pills called Abigan (sorry I do not know in English name). It is used for influenza and very effective. It is made by Fuji Film company. I think it was used also for ebola. Result is very good

One positive sign about the coronavirus crisis is that it, to me, it appears like my federal government, the U.S. government, seems to be doing a lot to help American citizens such as me, although I'm sure their are other Americans who would disagree with me about that.

Problem with Abigan is because they do not know if good. They need two groups to test vaccine or medicine. One group take, other group not take. Same with vaccine. Takes time. But compare with Spanish flu, medical knowledge so much very better now than 100 year ago. So we can expect good result, soon I think.

Media only give bad news, as if there is no hope

Effective vaccine will come only 3 or 4 month from now. Many very clever scientist in US, Europe and east Asia

I thought I heard on the news the other day is that in certain nations, the death rate due to the coronavirus is getting better.

Is that true? I hope it is.

Only so many people can die before the numbers begin to go down. The plan was to flatten the curve in most countries. First few weeks you have a line going upwards from all the deaths and infected people. The hope is to have that line flatten over time. So not as many cases together and not as many deaths. Some countries who had it earlier would be doing better by now. They would be months into the virus. Here in Ireland they expected that curve to flatten by now only to see it continue to rise. Think we have had more deaths in the second 2 weeks than the first 2 weeks. I put that down to the fact that it has gotten into nursing homes. Killing a lot of residents of these nursing homes. They are all old and a lot are already sick. They stand no chance at all. These are classed as clusters of deaths. Might have 20 from one nursing home. Very sad that is has gotten into these nursing homes. So now they are testing everybody in nursing homes. The fight / race is on to keep it out of as many of these homes as possible.
