Anxiety about my data usage

This sounds a bit absurd, but it is not if you work online. I have metered bandwith and it turns over every month..and I get new data. Somehow I have managed to use all my data this month according to them!!! and my month just turned over on the 8th. I don't even want to get into it with them, because I am sure the end result will cost me more money. I don't even see how it is possible because you are supposed to have a late night free zone, and this is where I do my downloading etc.

I get anxious over things like that which might incur me fees/added costs. I think for me it's because I'm fairly frugal by nature and I hate having to pay things where I feel like the fees are unjustified or things like that. My phone provider thankfully doesn't charge but just reaaaaally slows down your phone when you're close to your cap, so it's a bit of a warning for me there. But previous phone carriers I've been with in the past have definitely charged for it.

I can understand your concern. I have had similar concerns.when you reliant on a system to maintain your livelihood and its giving you some bad mileage it must be a bother to you.I have heard many persons complain about similar occurances.

I used to have a fixed limit and then free at certain hours, but it's also down to fair use. I too ended up having to limit what to click on and also used it all up before the end of the month. I just don't think doing surveys and working on online sites is possible with limited internet. The problem is many of these offer walls and sites have multiple graphics and they eat away at the data when you are online.

You need to change your plan or go to a library and use the internet there instead. That's what I did before I changed.

I feel this whenever anything I like turns out to have limitations. Even just finding out my favorite product is a limited edition makes me want to spend all my money and hoard as much as I can and thinking about having all that expense or not being able to do it because I don't have the budget would make me feel anxious and depressed. Sometimes I am able to just brush it off if I can pull myself back enough to look at it more objectively, reminding myself that it's not such a big loss, but even when I mentally can calm myself down sometimes I feel my spirits are in chaos.

Thankfully, I don't have this problem as I'm not dealing much with graphics and my internet service is actually unlimited. But it the service comes down to a term with a metered bandwidth, I think I'll opt for a prepaid connection that I can control on a daily basis rather than worry about reaching my cap. Some ISPs here offer unlimited connection for one day and give 1 day free if you load for 2 days. Loading is tedious, but I've done it before and my internet connection then costs lower than the present. The main reason I shifted to postpaid was the landline which comes free.

Those in rural areas have this issue a lot. My area isn't technically rural, but I consider it so, because although I supposedly have unlimited internet, it's not the greatest signal, and sometimes cuts out. I sometimes lose my signal entirely, for no apparent reason. I was watching a movie last night and it kept buffering, so I ended up just shutting it off. I think they're doing this (in my case) to force people to use their satellite service for television, rather than streaming all of our content. I usually have enough of a signal to do what i need to do work-wise, but I have friends who live out in the country, and they struggle with this issue daily. They have satellite internet, and end up using their cell phones a lot when they need to do research and update their listings, because their home/business internet service is so limited.

Alex, I have been working online for years, you just have to be careful or increase your limit if and when you need too. I do go to the library as well. We are supposed to be getting broadband internet here, so it can't happen soon enough for me. Ideally, I will move, but not sure how soon I can..I had hoped to have my house on the market this Fall, but at least in this area, it is a buyers market because so many houses are available.

I used to have this problem with being concerned about going over bandwidth and  that I needed to shop around for a different plan.  I currently get mine from Cox which bundles my unlimited high speed interent with my phone and tv.  I just can't work with a limit on bandwidth since I work with picture and usually use it all up just getting my reference pictures.  I think it's less stressful to quit a company for another than have that fear of going over every month.

I don't have my cellphone on a plan, so I don't really have this problem. But I am constantly worried about how many space of my phone's memory I have used... It's mostly because if this happens I'm going to have to delete pictures and just memories in general that I have on my phone... And I'm the type of person who has some type of emotional attachment with his pictures... But I guess that there's always a plan B like creating a backup.

Oh that sucks if you have used up your data and it's not yet even the end of the month. That always happens to me too, but I'm using a prepaid subscription, so I just top up when I have used all my data.

You should call them and find out your data usage times because if you are using most of your data, or just a lot of it during the times when it's free then they might be screwing you over. Also it could be that you are just running threw it, check out the websites that you use because things like streaming content, or websites that use extra data that you don't know about while you are surfing the site are also what eat up bandwidth.

It's good to know what uses what.

The higher speed internet that my provider has all has data caps, so once a person goes over they get charged more. I have 20 MBPS internet though and that is fast enough for me, no cap but I do think paying $90 a month seems expensive... I call them every so often and get promos to help lower the cost. I will never upgrade due to the data caps. I don't have a data plan on my phone so at home it just connects to the Wi Fi. Sometimes when I am out I may need to use it, I just keep data turned off now on my phone and turn it on as I need it, so there is no way for extra charges to happen.

I don't blame you for feeling this way. I hate running out of data. Especially when I'm using it for work. Have you tried having a polite conversation with them? Possibly even asking for a report of some type? I hope you get your data issue resolved asap.

That definitely sucks, but if you worry that much about it, try to invest a little more on your data. You're going to spend more money but you're also going to be more happy about it, I think it's a good investment. Or just try to use less data, but since you work online that seems harder to do.
