Just another night of tryin to relax enough to grab a few hrs sleep. Ah, isnt anxiety wonderful! Some nights i lay here and think, ok...im just gonna stay up all night so i'll be good and tired the next night...then i fall asleep right before daybreak, and sleep for a few hrs. Starting to just get used to 4 hrs of sleep. So i guess im compromising with my anxiety!

Hi guitarman. I wouldn't look at it as compromising. I was in an anxiety group for a number of years led by a psychologist who also had anxiety. She was a big advocate of not worrying about standard sleep patterns but instead just sleeping anytime you felt like you could. She promoted using sleep aids only if your personal situation (school, work etc.) mandated blocks of time where you needed to sleep. She really encouraged naps, basically anytime you feel like you can sleep, do it.

That sounds like great advice TRI. Most people tell u to lay there quietly, in the dark, relax and breath deeply...u know, all the stuff u DONT wanna do when u cant sleep! Lol
I like your psy advice, makes more sense...i actually got 6 hrs sleep last night! It was probably because i took my ativans

I try to follow her advice but generally am able to get a decent night's sleep after taking a Klonopin before bed. But if I have trouble sleeping I get up and dink around until I feel I can go back to sleep. I have the advantage of not having many things I have to go to and don't work. So, I can nap most days if needed.

I get sleepy during the day sometimes, but its always in the late afternoon and if i do nap then, it keeps me awake even later. For that reason i usually fight the drowsy feeling and stay awake.
I LOVE music, and have been playing guitar for many years now, and would enjoy listening to music at night before bed, for relaxation like many do. The only reason i dont is because it cranks me up instead of relaxing me. No matter what type i listen to, it does the same thing...pretty weird. I sometimes wish i could play myself a lullaby to relax me to sleep! Lol

Hi guitarman. You might want to give that sleeping system (sleep whenever tired regardless of the time) a try and see if you end up sleeping more in total. Anxiety is very exhausting and with more sleep we're able to take on anxiety's mental battle with a bit more ammo on our side.
Any accomplishments so far today? I set a daily goal of doing one thing that I know I can finish (say vacuuming a couple rooms or in the summer mowing a section of the lawn) and then consider anything more as extra. Today I bundled up and carried in a good sized load of firewood but still haven't been able to go get the mail. It's a pretty long walk to the mailbox but I'll get there.

Thanks for the suggestions TRI, i may try that sleep tip, anything that works is a bonus!
And the only thing I've done today is fix my computer since i finally got the part in the mail. Quick job, but its fixed, and it felt constructive! Great job with the firewood! Take your time, and grab the mail when u feel comfortable enough to do so. If you're like me...everything is an achievement, and it feels good to achieve :)

Yep, trudged out and got the mail, yea! I do some computer repair for the neighborhood for free just so I feel I'm contributing somewhat to society. What part did you replace and congrats unless it was just a new mouse.

It was just my cpu heatsink. Unfortunately, my processor is an Intel, and my plastic pins that hold it to the motherboard had broken, and pc was running like an oven! Got the new pins finally today, and a little shot of thermal paste and securing the fan to the motherboard did the trick!
Good job on the mail run too...hope u got something worth the trip! (But if your luck is like mine...ads and or bills) lol
