Announcing Your Pregnancy With Anxiety

I am 11 weeks pregnant and as I get closer to where it's safe to announce my pregnancy I get more and more anxious about it. I know my family will be happy, but I'm afraid some of my friends will be jealous. I also started a new job right before I found out we are expecting which caused enough anxiety of its own and I'm terrified to tell my new boss I'm going to have a baby.

Anyone else deal with this?

It's hard - I was the same way with my daughter. I had friends who had been trying and experienced miscarriages, and I didn't want to upset them - and I guess I also just didn't want all the attention that seems to come with announcing a pregnancy.

I announced mine late - around 20 weeks - I hadn't really even started to show until about 22 weeks so it's not like people expected much. If you're showing early obviously that's going to be trickier to tackle. I started by telling my nearest, dearest friend - she already had 3 children when I was expecting my first so I think it felt comfortable telling her. I think once I'd told her, it made it seem easier to break the news to others. Maybe you could try that strategy - tell someone that doesn't seem like they would potentially be upset by the news - it gave me confidence :)

I also experienced that kind of anxiety when it was time to tell my parents that I was pregnant. I was already engaged to be married in a few months that time but the pregnancy came before the wedding came. I even cried when it was time for me and my fiancé to announce my pregnancy. Things went out well after that though because they accepted it with open arms. :)
