And anxiety rears it's ugly head again in the form of twitching. Anyone else?

I don't enjoy the life that condemns me to twitch I'm so afraid of twitching. Everywhere is twitching.

Hey Zeynep, I was twitching everywhere too, tongue included. I've noticed that both my diet change & focusing on trying to bring down my anxiety really helps (through exercise & mediation).

Hey fellow forum peeps!

I went though a wonderful dry spell of anxiety and whenever it cropped up, I managed to rationalize it back into nonexistence.... until now.

Basically, I got an eyelid twitch fairly soon after my cancer scare. It wasn't too severe & actually disappeared for a while. Then it recently came back with a vengeance and I've started to notice other minor muscle twitches (a lip here, a calf there). I am a teacher and I've been going through the last few weeks of school which are always high stress so I've been trying to convince myself it's stress related (and I've also been slacking on my meditation & getting massages). I also know that the eyelid it's occuring on is my eye that has an astigmatism. I don't wear glasses, but I know I will likely need them in the near future. Every rational part of me is shouting, "It's stress, eye strain, and you being your spazzy self!" while my anxiety is shouting back, "It's MS, ALS, or some other horrific neurological disease!"

I’ve been having the same problem. Started with twitches in my fingers and toes. Then eyelid. Now I notice them in other places. I started worrying about Parkinson’s or ALS. Went to my neurologist who said he wasn’t concerned but ordered MRI and EEG to be sure. Waiting to have those done.

In the meantime I’ve worked myself up into panics including panic attacks that wake me up at night. Now I’m having nerve pain in addition to everything else. I wish it would just stop. I had been doing so well... basically years without significant anxiety. Now I feel like I’m losing control again.

I know the same fear. Cancer first. Then the brain hemorrhage and now ALS. My body is twitching everywhere. I wonder if this time Als? I am a patient of anxiety panic attacks and obsessive compulsive. Hopefully we're not Als: '(

One thing to always remember (which helped me) is twitching can be caused by SO MANY other things than ALS. Vitamins, stress, exercise fatigue. Also, there's something called "benign fasiculation syndrome" that is basically your muscles twitching for no apparent reason. And that's more common than ALS.

I had a numbness in my right leg. EMG was done when I went to the doctor. Only three muscles were viewed under my right leg. He said neuropathy. But 15 days after the EMG, twitches started everywhere. And I'm scared. Because the EMG was done first, but my twitches just started. Twitching for 21 days. It's like my feet and arms are tired for two days. I want it to be psychological. Please ...
I'm afraid to be ALS. I'm a mother and I have 3 small children

Hey Zeynep,

So you doctor said you had a neuropathy? Did he/she say what they thought it was, or refer you to anyone? You could potentially go see a neurologist if that may help?

My right leg hurts.I went to the neurologist. I said I was afraid to be Als.
The doctor said she wasn't thinking about ALS did it. EMG 3 needles just below the knee in the right leg.
Then he said neuropathy. I came home. Twitching started after 15 days..
But there was no twitch before. EMG is wrong ???
My EMG report says neuropathy protocol was applied.
Why not the ALS protocol????
Is that wrong? I asked the doctor. He also said that if you have ALS, it's just enough to look at one muscle.
I do not trust !!! Neuropathy does not twitch

It's never done twitching. I hope it's not ALS. I am a mother

Same here, twitches everywhere, I can't sleep, eat nor stop the obsessive thoughts of doom. It's getting worse and so are my thoughts. Awaiting my EMG Test in 10 days
