Hello all my name is Liz, I've had depression for several years but lately I've noticed my anxiety getting worse the last couple of years. Whenever I have to do things - work, participate in events, teach a small GA group at church, etc. I never really look forward to it. I'm always ready for it to be over. Does anyone else feel like this? I even enjoy some activities (and feel elated once it's accomplished) but I always feel nervous leading up to it. I usually tell myself "ok in an hour or couple of hours it'll be over and you'll be back home." Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

Hi Mekanxiety,

As a long time anxiety sufferer, I've been living in the world you describe for what seems like forever. One nasty habit I have is mentally rehearsing the upcoming event beforehand, over and over and rehashing everything I said or did after the event. That habit creates more anxiety than the event deserves so I end up avoiding so many things that shouldn't be a problem at all for someone without anxiety. So yes Mekanxiety, I'm right there with you as I'm sure many others on this forum are.

Hi and welcome! Yes yes YES. Same here. It's anticipation anxiety - I always try to find an 'out' in my brain right up to the minute something starts. It's really ruined a lot of what should be good times and memories... But you're right - you feel so much better after whatever it is is done. But it's SO exhausting.

Oh yeah, probably because you are concerned about having an attack in public. As long as you are not letting it stop you from doing things, you are on the right path. Stay strong...
