I Grew up in Germany as a military brat. But never traveled like the others. So every 4 years my friends left. Went to a German Kindergarten knowing barley any German. So i felt like teachers talked down on me at a young age. Also the only colored child in my school. Switched back to American school 1st grade then back to German. This is where it must have started....because I remember i put a pie in my jeans becsuse i couldn't even tell them I didn't like it. lol.....I'm 34 now and have to find a job on the German Economy but I'm just now realizing why I'm alcohol dependant. It's been S.A. this whole time. I drink in every single social event and been doing it for 16 years. I also have been smoking weed for the same amount of time so I don't have the slightest clue on where to go from here. Smoking brings out my anxiety only in social settings and alcohol FEELS like it cures it !!

I was alcohol dependent for my anxiety and didn’t realize for a while either. I’m having a two and a half week episode and I haven’t drank in almost 3 weeks. I know it’s a challenge but once my mind gets used to not being dependent on it I will feel much better in the long run. Good luck on your journey. I hope you kick the alcohol.

I appreciate it....family drinks to do it's so difficult to even know it's around. Constantly steal theirs, but I'd never take someone's money so it says a lot about my now realized addiction. It's never done anything good in my life so why do it is what I need to overcome. I recently quit for 3 weeks but failed miserably. Went to a job fair drink and actually made it through unoticed actually.....it was the Visa check that stirred my anxiety and I messed everything up.

About a month after I quit drinking I realized my social anxiety almost completely disappeared
Not to imply that it is an easy thing to do, almost everyone myself included says it takes a couple of try’s
