This summer has been a hot one, although not as bad as some years..Has it been hot in your area this summer? What are some of your tips to cope with the heat? I am lucky enough to have Central AC and live in a lake community where I can swim all the time, but it would be hard not to have those things. Well, swimming and AC are fairly easy to find. What about you? What are your tips to beat the heat?

I live in the deep south and yeah this summer has been a doozy! Of course every house here has A/C but sometimes it so d$#@ hot that even with them running full blast its still 90 degrees inside. On days like that we go to a movie, or an art gallery, or someplace where it is nice and cold. I also eat ALOT of snow cones!

I know...I turned on my AC and I just went to check it because it is still 84 in here...I was like...say what? I guess it will cool down a bit eventually but yesterday with it on and running it didn't drop below 79 in here. Plus the humidity was fairly high. Sigh, Fall is on it's way, but I hate the weather when it is like this. I don't like being hot in general...and especially not in my own home!

Summer in our country has just passed by, it was from April to May, and this year the heat seems to be tolerable as compared to other summers of past years. Well, aside from taking some fresh air outside, then I think assembling a hammock outside your house to chill amidst the summer heat instead of staying at home soaking yourself up in the AC would be a good alternative.

Yes, we have plenty of trees in the back, the problem is there are a lot of bugs in this general area...so whatever time you spend outside you have to apply spray or come in covered with bites. I like to go to the lake though, because there appears to be minimal bug activitiy down there. I mean it makes me anxious to be itching and not feeling my best. Also, bug bites can be unsightly, and it is not fun to have them. It is a way that we can deal with the heat here in the great woodland areas.

I'm used to hot weather in such a way I can cope with warm environments for a long time before running to the nearest cool place. Unfortunately, I don't have a freshwater lake or basin near to enjoy a neat swimming, but at least I have access to central air conditioner.

The weather here has been strange. It's been hot and dry here, enough to fry an egg on the hood of my truck. I would to if it wasn't unsanitary. But the evenings have been really cold. A couple years ago, I could walk around and midnight in shorts and a tank and feel fine, now it's chilly enough for me to consider a scarf and cardigan. Still, it beats winter weather anytime.

I live in Eastern Canada and we have had a hot summer for the most part. I am usually at work during the hot days and we don't have AC so I just use a fan and make sure that I drink plenty of water. When I get off work I will usually go for a swim. It helps to cool off. Also taking a cool shower and then sitting in front of a fan helps as well. I don't have an AC at work or at home or even in my car for that matter. For the short time that the warm weather last I try my best to make the most of it and not complain. Soon enough it will be cold and I am not a fan of winter weather. I would take the heat any day over the cold, stormy weather that we get through the winter months.

it's been the shittiest summer ever here in Serbia. We had some hot days but mostly it was raining with crazy winds. The temperature difference was insane. One day it is 38 the other day it is 12. Seriously, I am not exaggerating. When it was a heat wave I would go to a swimming pool with my girl and I would always have one shower more than usual during the day. I am not good with heat but it is nice to have it when it is supposed to be there. I am very disappointed with this summer in terms of sunny days. There's a thing called HAARP and some people say it is causing the changes because coincidently the changes began when HAARP was installed on the Serbian soil.

It is super hot here in Texas. We had one day when it hit 106 degrees. The AC felt like it wasn't doing anything on that day. I turned it off on many days and just used 3 of my box fans and they literally cooled me down in a way that I wanted to be. I learned that the movement of air produced from fans is better with helping cool you down than an AC, but I can't remember the specific details for it doing so.

I would recommend everyone keep box fans in their house, it really feels good having them. Plus their not expensive. I paid $20 dollars a pop, plus I have some smaller ones that are 13 inches and smaller. Even a USB fan.

Fans are my solution to the heat.

It's been extremely hot here as well, and I'm very concerned about the electric bill. The one coming due is about twice what the bill for April was, yet it's still lower than last year's at this time. I couldn't afford it then, and even though it's lower this year, I still can't afford it. I saw an article recently about local law enforcement giving out air conditioners to the elderly and disabled. That's a nice gesture, but most of those people still aren't going to use the units, because they can't pay the bill. There is no protection here in the Summers the way there is up north in the Winter, where the heat providers aren't allowed to shut off the service. Where I live, they will shut you off unless you have a letter of medical necessity, and even then, only if they determine it's medically necessary, regardless of what the doctor says. I'm really hoping it cools off soon. I'm thankful for the current rain, because it's keeping the temperatures slightly lower, but I'm also concerned about flooding.

It has been so hot! Yesterday, where I live, it was 108 degrees outside. I work from home, so usually on really hot days like yesterday I just stay inside with the AC on. We don't have central AC but we have the window ones so I just pick a room to hangout in and it usually cools down pretty quickly with it on. I also live in a valley so when it's really hot I like going up into the mountains because it's quite a bit cooler up there.

I live in Las Vegas and as you probably know, the heat here can be absolutely brutal.. We have air conditioning practically everywhere, but it's to the point where it's been so hot that I"m literally afraid to go outside. I've collapsed quite a few times from heat stroke and heat exhaustion as well, though it was during a water fast and I was dumb to be out in the heat without food... everyone says the heat here isn't that bad because "it's a dry heat". It's true that without humidity, the heat is easier to endure, but I still think this weather is too hot to sustain life. I can't wait until Winter when I can go outside without worrying about passing out or being weak.

I really wish I lived somewhere else, somewhere with nice summer temperatures.

It has been in the triple digits where I live this summer! I try to keep the air conditioner around 75 degrees to make it cost effective, but a huge key to not over heating is staying hydrated, whether your indoors or especially if you are out of doors! I wear light weight fabrics, shorts, tank tops, sunscreen, and a hat to keep cool. If I am going to be out doors for long stints I will dip a bandanna in water and wrap it around my head and/or neck as well.

Sweating can be icky but you need it to happen to stay cool...replenish, replenish, replenish! If your body stops sweating it is a sign of heat stroke and is not a place you want to be.

I drink a lot of cold brew tea on hot afternoons. Having a good drink not only makes me feel cooler but it makes me feel like a better person as well because of the lightness and happiness it brings. I rarely put on the air conditioner on high and just use a motor fan because I'm saving electricity. Yeah it's hot but lucky enough in a tropical country it also rains a lot at night.

My house is not air conditioned and I find it really helps to close the windows and curtains on the sunny side of the house in the morning. The kitchen is one of the main rooms that we use and it gets the morning heat. I find it stays a lot cooler in the house if I remember to close those curtains.

Something else I find cooling in a house without air conditioning is going down to the basement if i get too hot. Heat rises, so the basement is often noticeably cooler than the main floor.

Turning the fans on can help out quite a bit too. If I'm doing something that doesn't require too much moving around, I really enjoy having an oscillating fan sitting near by. So refreshing!

It's definitely a hot one indeed. I live in southeast Asia and we normally get in the high 90's every once in a while, but this year's summer, oh by the way our summers begin in March until May, it has been consistently high, like 95 and above. I take a lot of water to freshen up and we go swimming at night to avoid the heat. At home, the air conditioner is always on, the fan is always on. The mall is also a good place to cool down but you end up spending more money what with all the goodies around.
