Peter Gabriel always annoyed me. I took his stuff off the jukebox at work when I ran a cafe.

This could be a long, delightful thread, because the 70s was a great decade for rock, pop, and R&B. Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages" are great examples.

A similar artist is Gerry Rafferty. You've probably heard "Baker Street."

SledgeHammer was not from the 70's. That was a bit of a comeback song from Peter Gabriel in 1986. Good 70's song from him was just after he quit as the lead singer from Genesis. He decided to climb Solsbury Hill and he claims he had a bit of a vision. Came down and wrote the song.

Yeah. I was about to say the same thing.

What do you think of the duo called Marshall Hain?

Some one-hit wonders are so good, you wonder why the people who recorded these songs were even just one-hit wonders to begin with.

Speaking of one hit wonders. It depends on the country. I saw one of those reaction videos on you tube. Reacting to Simply Minds as a one hit wonder band. Band has had so many hits. Only not in the US. Same with Sinead O Connor. Claiming she was a one hit wonder. In the US both had only one hit. Ireland and the UK they had many hits. Thin Lizzy were also a one hit wonder in the US. Many big hits over here.

Marshall Hain did have two more albums in the 80's. Then the lead singer moved to the US and wrote songs for other people. Music changes. If you can't change with it, you might as well give it up.

Kim Mitchell is a one-hit wonder in America, because his only chart hit in the United States was "Go for Soda". Similarly, he had a song that just missed the top 40 in Great Britain called "Paradise Skies", from when he fronted Max Webster. However, he's hugely popular in his native Canada. His hits there include "Patio Lanterns", "America", and "Rocklandwonderland".

Madness was a one hit wonder here in the US with Our House. Plenty of hits in UK.

Speaking of one hit wonders - plenty of them. I used to like to collect 45s of them. Some good ones
"Stuck in the Middle With You" by Stealers Wheel
"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass
"The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy
"Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede
"All Right Now" by Free
"In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry
"My Sharona" by The Knack

"Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest - maybe my favorite

and some bad
"Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band
"You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone

Again, many of the groups you brought up mate, are not one-hit wonders. They achieved multiple hit singles in the top ten. Munjo Jerry have actually had two number ones during their career.

Outside the US. To us here they're a one hit wonder. Wiki : They had nine charting singles in the UK, including two number ones, and five top 20 hits in South Africa.

That's sad about Badfinger. The lead singer and the bassist both died via suicide. They were quite big in America too, I think.

Thin Lizzy greatest hits is a double album here. Grave of the lead singer is like a shrine. People from all over the world come to visit it. Even a staue of the lead singer here in Dublin. But I know most Americans only know that one song. You even had Metallica cover another of their most popular songs. Whisky in the jar.

In the one hit wonders I forgot about T Rex get it On. They actually made it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Based on one song I guess.
