Went to the doctor today. Told him all my symptoms and concerns and he suggested for peace of mind I am seen by a cardiologist. He thinks it is just my anxiety but now I'm feeling like maybe he is just telling me that. I told him I'm going to be worried and he said if I was worried at all I'd send you to the er. Your heart and lungs sound good. He prescribed viibryd. Anyone take that before??

So I see you take Viibryd. I was just prescribed this today. It's working well for you?? How long did it take to kick in? Any side effects?

Well it varies by person. Some people have no side effects, some people have a lot. It usually takes two weeks for them to go away. They say it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months before the the medicine actually starts helping.
Yeah, seems like you are going through a lot right now. The best advice I can give is to fix one problem at a time. When you focus on every little problem you have, of course you are going to get overwhelmed and have anxiety. It sounds like you would really benefit from seeing someone (a therapist). You could also benefit from some sort of medication that will help you with your anxiety. Again, everyone gets freaked out about taking medication...but it doesn't mean its permanent. Your situation seems really extreme and your clearly right in the midst of this storm.

Hello! Yes, it works great. Among the anti-depressant benefits (depression is a whole different topic), it specializes in preventing panic. And once you get past that fear of panicking, it gets a lot easier. My doctor told me it takes 2 weeks for it start working at all, but it takes up to 2 months to get the full benefits. I'm assuming he has you on a plan to take 10 mg for a week, then maybe 20 mg for a week, then 40 mg (or something like that)?
You can read up on the possible side effects. Mine were very minor. So minor, I don't exactly remember which one's I had.
I will say, if you aren't feeling better after 2 weeks or a month...don't worry! That could happen. You have to practice some of the tips that I wrote above. Educate yourself on what anxiety actually is. The old cliche "Knowledge is power" really helps here.
I take mine in the morning after breakfast. It's absolutely vital that you take it after eating. Don't take it on an empty stomach, and try your best to consistently take it around the same time each day.
Thank you! I took it today at lunch. Hoping no major issues. I didn't have any really bad effects after Zoloft either. So I'm hoping the same this time. I'm starting with 10mg this week then I go up to 20 next week. Then I see my GP in two months.

Hey thanks for the response. I'm on medication and I see a therapist. I have an appointment on Monday with a doc I've never met before since my doc is out of the office until the 30th. I plan to see him on the 30th as well. I actually don't do anything for a living and I feel a lot of sadness and guilt over that. Whenever I get a job they like me a lot but with my mood swings, I end up missing a lot of work or have to go home or stay home because of bad anxiety. It's a tough situation. It just feels so good to talk to someone about it. Thank you for listening
Hi Summers - I’m new to this anxiety thing. It all started a few years ago when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and shortly after I lost 2 good friends. I went on lexapro for 3 months and was able to get off of it and control my anxiety. It’s come back recently and I feel worried all day long. If I’m driving I feel like I’m going to get lost or if I’m in a bathroom I can’t find the door to get out. Silly things like that. Now, I feel like I worry about being anxious and that makes me anxious. As much as I didn’t want to, I went to the dr and got out on a very low dose of Zoloft to get me over this hump. I don’t plan on being on it long term. I’m just worried all the time - it’s awful. I travel for work so I need to get passed this. Help!
The main advice I would give (and was given to me) is to change your thoughts when the anxiety is coming on. Now this is a slow process, but eventually it takes. Basically, there is something out there that triggers your anxiety to start. It's called a conditioned response. Your body has learned to respond to this stimulus by having anxiety. So slowly but surely, you need to change your thinking when you feel that beginning twinge of anxiety. This can be a number of things...think of something immediately that makes you really happy or excited, go jogging, do something that requires heavy concentration, laugh or mock yourself "fake being happy"...get weird with it. Eventually you retrain your brain to not respond with anxiety. And the longer you go without having anxiety, the stronger you get and the more able you are to fight off the anxiety. This works...I can attest to it. Every once in a blue moon I get that nasty twinge of anxiety...and I immediately tell myself..."nope, this is not happening"... and I simply focus on something else interesting. This wouldn't be so successful when I was going through the bad anxiety days, but it takes time to retrain your brain.
I know right now as you read this you think...yeah you don't understand how bad it is for me....but I promise I do. You will be looking back on this phase one day.
Yeah, no problem! In your case, seeing a doctor should very well help you. If you are having major mood swings, it sounds like you need to get some sort of mental health issue under control. Just be thankful that in this day in age, everything can be treated. They will find the solution for you. You just have to be patient.
Once you get this under control, the job stuff will fall into place.

Hey there...have you tried seeing a therapist? I'm also prone to obsessing over little health issues. I can assure you that you aren't having a heart attack because of pain in your bicep.

A loooong time ago I tried Lexapro and Zoloft for depression...but they made me very sleepy. Do you have panic attacks? Sounds like you have some sort of PTSD from the losses you've experienced. That must have been awful! I've lost my Mom slowly over the years because of her drug abuse. She's still alive, but it feels like she died (if that makes sense).

I’m hoping Zoloft helps and then I’ll slowly get off of it. Sorry to hear about your mom.... I know how awful that can be. Wish I could train my brain to respond to this differently. I really try. 
I know exactly what you mean when you say worry about worry. I mentioned that anxiety about getting anxiety turned into the hardest part to for me. Ask your doctor about Viibryd. Don't give up on training your brain...it takes diligence. It will work eventually.
