I absolutely love Christmas always have, but the loving memories that I have are when my family and I used to spend Christmas eve over at my grandmothers house. She would make pizza,fritz-fried dough and fried shrip,I can also remember having Santa come and visit us and bringing us all of us kids that is a gift. Then we would also go to her house for Christmas it was such a nice affair.I always put up her Christmas tree for her she had one of those silver ones and I put blue balls on it she also had the color wheel it looked very nice but for myself I have to have a green tree it looks more real that way. When I was younger I can remember my brother and I getting up around 2-3 to open our gifts we tried to be very quiet but my mother always seemed to hear us and she would get mad,hey we never woke her up.I always loved it when she had the tree up and the fireplace going and you could smell the homemade cookies and stuff that she was baking. The house was filled with love at Christmas,Also once my grandmother became unable to do Christmas anymore my husband and I would invite a few people over and have Christmas eve with them.Boy do I ever miss that.Sometimes I wish that I could go to a Christmas party but that is out of the questions I think of those wonderful times a lot.Back then I had no anxieties or depression I was very nervous but then again I think I was born nervous,I often what life would be like to be normal with no anxieties or depression.I just keep praying maybe someday.Hope you all have a very safe and Merry Christmas.

My early memories of Christmas are not so good. Mainly because that is when I was going through a lot of trauma. I was separated from my family and put into a children's home. That place holds my earliest Christmas memories. A few weeks before Christmas, all of our toys would disappear and we would have none to play with at all. Then at Christmas, we would enter the dining room at 11 AM and all the chairs would be set out around the edge of the room. Each of the chairs would have one of our names on so we would find the chair with our name on. There were about three or four presents on the seat of each chair and yes, you've guessed it, all the disappeared toys had been wrapped up and given back to us as presents. I remember that we all knew the toys were from before and I remember that we were all confused as to why the house leaders would do that.

I am sad that you had some awful memories that wasnt very nice of them to do that.I can remember picking out a tree and it would be snowing out they would be playing Christmas music over the loud speakers,it was so nice.Although one time the guy told us the tree was just cut which by the way was not because after a few days the needles started really falling off the tree lucky for us we were able to keep it up until Christmas ,but after that encounter we decided to go to a tree farm for now on and get fresh ones,NOw I do not have to worry about it because i have a six foot artificial tree it looks just as nice as a real one do you have a a tree?

They did that because there was not enough money to buy new presents. So the staff would wrap up all that we already had. It felt weird opening up the old toys and we all thought it was strange.

Here is another early Xmas memory. My adopted father used to work for the Gas company, and every year, they would make a huge party for all the employee's children. There would be Santa visiting, jelly and ice cream, all the goodies to eat and tom and Jerry cartoons to watch. And lots of games to play. It was nice to go, but all the little girls were wearing long dresses and I wanted to as well. When my adopted mum finally made me a long dress and I wore it, the long dresses were out of fashion and they were all wearing short dresses!

I have an old tree that is a bit decrepit so I am hoping to get a new one this year. Money is a bit tight so I'll have to make do with what I can for now. We used to have fresh trees when I was young. All the needles would get everywhere but they were nice to have.

There is nothing like the smell of a real tree the only thing that is a pain is the needles falling off.

That is a nice memory but I am sorry about the dress.
It was typical of my ex-wicked-stepmother. My adopted sister who was two years older than me always got to wear a long dress. The ex-wicked-stepmother was a seamstress so she would always take my adopted sister out and choose the material and make her one. They would go to the sewing shop and choose a new pattern and she would make her a dress. She'd whip it up in no time at all but I always had to wear a dress or skirt and top that was out of my everyday wardrobe. I always complained that I wasn't treated the same as my adopted brother and sister and I was right.

I love the smell of them too, I like the smell of disinfectant because it smells of pine which is so refreshing.

OMG, how awful. Then you will need to use something that is really gentle like baby shampoo and baby products. Have you tried baby products?

Yay, it was my cross to bear in those days. She made me feel like Oliver Twist. She should have treated me the same but the incest thing meant that she felt disgusted with me.

The fact that she was a seamstress as well, meant that she could knock up a dress in a couple of hours. I don't see any reason for her not letting me wear a long dress, not even one of my adopted sisters dresses from the years before. Because I wanted to be like everyone else, she decided it was an opportunity to be cruel to me.

sometimes even baby products can be strong
Yes that is true. The problem as well I presume is finding that particular product that is okay. Mainly because you have to try them out first and then suffer if they are not okay. Tea tree is quite gentle have you tried tea tree or Johnson baby products? Johnson's are very mild and I use it on my dogs because it is so gentle and mild.

She certainly had something against me. I also think she was going through the menopause during those years and she took it out on me. She was mean and cruel. I was so scared of her and often associated her with the ex-wicked-stepmother in Cinderella. She conditioned me such that I was an emotional mess most of my life.
