While I'm sure this may take a little searching for some, admittedly I had to do a fine amount of searching myself to be able to come up with the little list I've got now but it's always always wonderful to know what brings us joy seeing how elusive joy can be. Some things that cheer me up or take some edge off or give me a drink of much needed water so to speak when life gets too much is

Reading a good book

Sitting out in Nature

Thinking up Stories!

Writing Poetry

Thinking about ways I can make someone else's day a little bit brighter

Knowing that if I keep going and don't give up, I just might see the sunrise one day (and oh how that's been proving to be true)

So what little pockets of sunshine do YOU have in your cloudy day? We all have them, we just don't always realize.

There are two guaranteed things that can cheer me up; first of all, damned fine chocolate, and secondly a peaceful hot bath with no noise or people around. I'm pretty content with those, oh and a glass of champagne too would be a bonus! :)

Two of yours, reading a good book, and sitting out in nature usually cheer me up, as long as it's peaceful. If the neighbors are being noisy and/or obnoxious, that's a definite mood spoiler. I enjoy seeing the birds on my balcony, even if it's just at a glance, through the curtains. Another thing that cheers me immensely is hearing cat purrs and ocean waves.

Very specific kinds of music is a good way to cheer me up. If I am depressed, then my best medicine is Frank Sinatra. If I'm upset or angry, then my best bet is alternative rock from the early 90s. I also started drawing a little comic strip to show my friends about a fictional creepy neighbor whenever I'm upset. They like the little strips and drawing it for them makes me feel better.

MY cat generally cheers me up, because I love hanging out with him. Lately, I have been a bit worried about his mood and general health though, but I still think he is great. Also, I used to love listening to rock music in the car, while driving one of my faves..but now my radio is showing a speaker error!!! Hmmm, any sound or electronics gurus around here?

The things that cheer me up are quite many, like sleeping, (yes, it does cheer me up, it makes me feel good upon waking up) playing with my cat, listening to music, watching feel good tv shows and movies, and of course, eating.

Re-organizing something, anything.

Writing.

Snuggling with my cat or even just watching him rest.

Sleeping on it.

A really cute haircut.

Good conversation.

Reading a good book.

Laughing! Even if I don't mean it at first.

Somethings that cheer me up are in no order: tasty pizza, reading a good book, gazing at the stars, talking to God, a good comedy movie, writing about what I'm thinking or experiencing, spending time with family, going to the beach, sleeping in on a Sunday morning with no place I need to be, drinking a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day, watching and listening to rain outdoor and playing in the snow. There's more I'm sure, but that's all I could think of right now. :)

Any standup comedy bit on youtube usually cheers me up. Its the fastest to change the mood that I know of. Pets help me as well. My dog can sense when I am down and plays with me till I feel better. Finally, kids cheer me up as well (as long as they're well behaved, lol!). Great food is also something that cheers me up, especially a thick cheese filled pizza.

Music is my standby because I can't always afford to pass my work when I'm sad or having a bad day. So I listen to a special playlist that always cheers me up. If I have time, I will sit down, eat a homemade meal, eat ice cream, and watch a drama. I'm currently watching Can't Buy Me Love on Dramafever, the storyline is crazy and very original. It's helped me feel happier even though I've been exhausted lately.

Playing video games or taking a nap. If I am feeling down or sad, switching to somewhere else is my best bet. When I am feeling fine again, I can keep going on in the day. Taking a nap really changes how I behave. If I am mad, I wake up in a good move. But if I sleep in a good mood, I wake up as a mean boy. Really weird honestly. But at least, it makes me feel refreshed.

Music and TV cheer me up. I love to listen to uplifting music. It helps me to get my mind off my problems. It's very therapeutic and healing for me. I also like to watch certain shows get my mind off my problems. One of my favorite shows is Downton Abby. I love that time period and to see the interaction between the rich and the servants.

Something that really helped me through my tough periods is hanging out with my best friend. Going to catch a movie, going for dinner or going out for a chit chat session at the coffee shop. Anything that involves me spending time with my best friend brings a smile to my face and makes me feel instantly better.

It would be hard to choose just one thing... there are so many things that bring me joy. I love reading, listening to music, playing games with my daughter, soaking in a warm bath and just relaxing and meditating. The list goes on. I actually have a list that I keep adding to every chance I get. I am never short of things to try out to make myself feel better at any time.

Finding what makes you happy is very beneficial and seems like such an obvious thing. But what truely makes you feel at ease can be overlooked easily. I have to say I love music, my pets, family, sleep lol and being able to have time just to myself not having to think about anything else. It's nice just to be able to spend some time doing what I want to do rather than what I have to do. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that. After all we are all seemingly busier than ever before.

As I said in another thread one thing that cheers me up is watching bad movies and cheesy TV shows. Something about watching something enjoyably bad just brightens my day right up. I'll also watch things like Mystery Science Theater.

It just depends. I rarely feel completely down on life or anything like that. My main issue is anxiety, and my anxiety is due to stress. I tend to overthink things and dwell on the small things. If I am ever "down" because of it, IF my kids are being good and not acting out that day, then there is nothing better than snuggling up and watching a movie over some hot chocolate and letting them just ramble on about everything in their minds. Other times, I find that my kids will team up on me for a day or so and act out and think its okay, and it becomes stressful. On those days, a nap, and a warm cup of coffee helps.. The alone time is desired.

Here recently it has been helping my daughter do her homeschooling because I feel like I am helping her to achieve an education. I had a good education and I just want her to have one too. Even on her bad days when she doesn't want to work I try my best to get her to want to without getting aggravated. I try to make a game out of it. When she finally smiles and is laughing with me I know that it is time to start our lessons for the day and seeing her do it because she wants to. Makes me very happy.

Books. Having books everywhere I could possibly think of truly makes me happy. Now that I have a couch and a place that I feel is mine and safe, all I want to do each night is come home, get cozy and pull out a book. I have over 2,000 books at this point not counting the ones I have on my Kindle. Knowing that I no matter where I go in my tiny place I have books surrounding me really makes me happy. After that it would probably be Starbucks, chocolate, cross stitching and traveling. Being in an airplane is such an amazing feeling. I probably should have become a pilot!
