Feeling scared more at night

I seem to be more scared at night then I do during the day,well it certainly helps when you hear strange noises in you apt or maybe it is the next door apt,sometimes it sounds like something is running around in here yikes or the cats outside are fighting as well that really scares me i know they cannot get inside but it sounds just like they are at my front door for some strange reason they always seem to park themselves right at my front door and it scares me so when they scream,now the question i want to asks is does anyone else feel more anxious and scared at night ,More then during the day time,I still hear noises during the day scary then but nigh time it is the worse
