Ever wake up and then get a migraine from sleeping too long?

This has happened to me, twice. And when I say twice, I mean TWO DAYS IN A ROW.

And the only connection I can make (or "trigger")....would have to be the fact that I slept a couple hours extra each time. The first one was after an extra-long nap, and then the second one (the next day) was from just oversleeping. First my left arm goes numb for a few minutes, then I lose a chunk of vision in my right eye, then I get that fantastic display of flashing rainbow lights that slowly spreads out and heads on down to the right until I can't see it anymore, and then I get the nasty headache on the opposite side, (meaning, my left eye and side of face/head gets the headache.)

I wonder why sleeping extra would cause this???? I thought extra sleep and rest were supposed to be GOOD for us.

Has this ever happened to you before? :arghh:

R u sure these are migraines? R u prone to them? Do these headaches last all day? What your describing doesn't sound lIke any migraine i've ever heard of. I've of course heard of the pain and the rainbow type vision you spoke of however, the vision lost doesn't sound right me . See your doctor . The loss of vision in your right eye.. how long does it take before you recover your vision? Keep me posted. A migraine also involves sensitive to sound. Take care of yourself. Call your doctor.

Yep, they are migraines. I've been getting them for about 9 years now. My Dad also gets them, his started at the age of 13, and so does my younger brother. The headaches don't last all day, in fact, the headaches have seemed a bit weak lately, which is GREAT. Because we all know the worst part about a migraine, is the headache that follows. I usually get these symptoms about twice a year, interestingly enough, during the winter months. My brother thinks it has a lot to do with the pressure in the air/snow/etc. But mine always act up (esp. the visual symptoms) when I sleep too long....and 99% of the time they occur in December and January. So no worries, I've been battling these buggers for a while now. ;)
