There are some people who have big tempers and I've known some of them personally. Most of them are good people, it's just that they easily get pissed at something that aren't a big deal, or lose it whenever they were teased or annoyed. I'm not sure if there is a cure for it. I normally understand people with their behavior but sometimes, I'm losing it as well especially when a person goes wild for no particular reason.

I am a cool guy when it comes to temper. In fact, they call me Mr. Cool in the office because they have seen me work for 10 years and there never was an incident of temper flare up. However, I have noticed that when i am in a crowd and was feeling timid or shy, I tend to develop a temper. It's just fortunate that I was able to control my temper all the time because I immediately realize it. There was a time when our office has some festivities which were attended by hundreds of guests. I was tasked to provide assistance in the stage and I felt my temper rising whenever some of the staff wouldn't perform perfectly. But I know that it is like stage fright and my temper is just a defense mechanism of sorts.

I can lose my temper inside, but rarely show it. However, I can be pushed but as I have gotten older I can control it a little better. Most people see me as laid back, and calm, but at times I am fuming.

My father always had a bad temper for no reason, and I got used to it and vowed not to be like that. My brother takes after him, so compared to them I am calm. I get annoyed more when people don't listen or they do things with no regard to others. That to me is a valid reason to get angry though!

Sometimes I lose my temper even when I can't influence things. For example, my internet has been really wonky for the past couple of weeks and I haven't been able to focus on my work 100% which has made me really irritated. Today I finally snapped and nearly broke my router, it can happen to anyone. It's important to keep our cool even when the situations are completely against us, anger doesn't solve anything.

I think people tend to lose their tempers more when they are under stress. For some people, especially introverts, that might just be being in a crowd, or around a large and busy environment. If you know someone blows up when teased, its probably better not to tease them, since it just makes an unpleasant blow-up for everyone. The other thing is that you never really know what has happened to someone, and whether you are hitting something personal e.g. if someone teases them about baby deals, if they've just lost a child the teasing won't go down well, and they may not want to tell you the reason if it is too sensitive.

I think that's right on the spot @Lyndra, it's all about stress. How many times I am at home with the kids and they are behaving OK and the wife gets home upset and tired from work and starts picking up with the little things they are doing? We need to create a safety barrier between us and the rest of things so that we can remain calm.

I don't easily lose my temper. I may burn inside but I can control myself easily and not react violently to anything or anyone. I think that outbursts or uncontrolled behavior worsens a bad situation and must be avoided. Losing one's temper easily doesn't just wreak havoc on relationships, it also paints a bad image of a person who lose it quickly. I wouldn't want to be known as a dragon lady, after all.

I don't really lose my temper that much, and if I do so, it's because what happened was really anger-worthy. My parents do lose theirs over trivial things. My mom is worse in holding back her temper when she was alive. She would throw whatever she could find and was within her reach if she gets mad, as well as hitting her kids and my dad when she gets annoyed at him. I remember she threw a glass full of water at me! I can't help but think if my phones would even survive this long with her around, lol. Sadly there is no cure for bad temper other than the person making a conscious effort to curb it.

I get irritable very easily. Sometimes I feel a lot of bottled-up anger, and sometimes it flares up irrationally, especially when I'm alone. Actually having outbursts at other people is rare though, I'm very passive-aggressive as far as that goes.

Just now I was upset with my kids and it's not very easy for that to happen. But when I call his attention once, twice, three times I lose my temper! Kids and wife are the things that make me lose my temper more, apart from that I can control myself fine.

Why do you get irritable more when you are alone @Jester85?

I do too and I can't figure out why. It is so painful. At other times I'm so joyful, though.

Big tempered people can be good or bad. We can't judge anyone. Only God can do that on judgment day, ultimately. It's OUR job to love people and help them along on their way.

I'm pretty sure I have bipolar disorder, because sometimes my moods can whiplash from depressed to excited with nothing really happening in between to trigger them. I've never been officially diagnosed though, and I know self-diagnosis can be a slippery slope.

Lately, I've noticed that I have been losing my temper, and I'm the type of gal who hardly EVER loses my temper, so I found this a bit odd. Normally, instead of getting mad, I would just go upstairs and think of all the things I <could have> said, but didn't, and then I just sit there quietly and plot my revenge instead. But in the past few weeks or so, it seemed as if any little thing could set me off, and I would begin yelling about the most random things. Later, I found out that it was the large amounts of Diet Coke that I was consuming that constantly kept me on edge, and was causing me to just explode at anyone or anything that would upset me. That's when I knew I needed to cut back on the Diet Coke, and I did. I am a lot more calm again, and back to my old self. No longer yelling and getting mad, and back to secretly plotting some kind of revenge when necessary.:D:D

I think there is a strategy to beat anger but it differs from person to person. I lose tempter very easily and lately I found that I can control it to a great extent by taking deep breaths. But what is more important for me is to count it while breathing. By reaching 10 I start thinking in the right direction so I will be able to gauge the possible consequences. Another thing is that whenever I am not able to sleep properly, next day I will be too hot tempered which can only be controlled by having a good night sleep.

So it is different for different kind of personalities. You have to find out what makes you cool down and think rationally.

Anxiety makes me lose my temper. I get overwhelmed. I'm in a constant state of worry. My husband is sick of it.

I used to lose my temper very easily, but I have learned to restrain it more. As a teacher, I have a very long patience and can tolerate a lot that would make most people crazy. I tend to lose my temper over smaller things these days, and my anger is never really directed at other people. Usually, it's directed at myself in the end.

I have one of the worst tempers. I get irritated after every minute for every little thing. I try so hard not to let things get to me byt desoite the conscious efforts I just lose it.

Recently I am trying very hard to practice patience but it's not an easy thing. I am better when I am at work I guess.

Do you find yourself getting angry at people or other kinds of things?

I can see why you would get irritated sometimes because people often do fairly ridiculous things without realizing it.
