Am I the only one that rarely experiences hyperventalation? Is it odd? I was sitting here thinking just now . You here about all these panic attack cases where hyperventilation is a key symptom. Sometimes I can hyperventilate but, rarely. However, I still get the tingling in my fingers and toes and I still get lightheaded and I still get that feeling of doom .. just no hyperventilation. Is this normal ? Could I have a heart problem instead? I've had ekg and a chest x- ray and blood work done everytime I go to the er for a panic attack. There seems to be no other concern from the er point of view. Although once they had to administer medication for my racing heart. The rate was 135 bpm. I guess what I really want to know is. Do others here experience a panic attack with no hyperventilation?

Yes! Frequently. My fingers and toes quite often get tingly and I seem to be forever itching the top of my fingertips. The feeling of doom is there some days and not others. It's when I go out or have to go out, or if something scary happens that I start to hyperventilate. I thin what you are experiencing is completely normal and nothing to concern about. What you are having is a form of panic attack.

I almost never hyperventilate. I suppose everyone is different though.

I have had those symptoms of tingling and numbness, when waking up from sleep along with chest pains but with no hyperventilating. However when I was seen at doctor office or hospital it was always assumed I had been breathing to fast, even though I said I was not. Unless tests show something else I guess we have to consider it is a odd anxiety or breathing issue that has caused the symptoms.

I know right? It's like they never listen to you. They always assume that they know you better than you know yourself. When we say " we don't hyperventilate, " then we don't hyperventilate! Another reason I learned today by online research is that tingling is also a sign of poor circulation. Wonder why panic would cause lack of circulation?

Apparently, this is true. I get tingly fingers and toes even though there is nothing wrong with me. I just did a little research and it says that poor circulation can be due to anxiety. I'm actually pleased to see this as I thought I had carpal tunnel syndrome!
